Sweet Sadie Memorial Scholarship
The Sweet Sadie Memorial Scholarship is the foundational program of Sweet Sadie Difference Makers. It was founded at North Shore Community College before the foundation of the nonprofit and helped lead to the foundation of our nonprofit.
The fund provides two $1,500 scholarships to North Shore Community College students every year. The fund's primary goal is to support students with disabilities. The goal of this program is to help people with disabilities pay for college so that others can have similar experiences to the ones Sarah had when she attended NSCC.
The fund issued its first two scholarships in the 2020-2021 school year. The fund has given four scholarships to date.
The four recipients were very thankful for the scholarship, and their thank you letters are below.

To whom it may concern,
I, Jazmen Perryman, would like to say thank you to the donors for their contribution to my education. I will utilize this generosity to the best of my abilities regarding my remaining time at North Shore Community College, as well as my continued educational goals.
I am a single mom of two boys, I suffer through different mental and physical disabilities, I am also taking care of my mother and other family members while trying to maintain college. Words cannot express how deeply honored I am to have been chosen to receive the Sweet Sadie Memorial Scholarship. Due to this gift, there is now less financial worry and more room to focus.
Peace and blessings to all during these trying times.

To the generous contributors of this foundation scholarship. I am extremely grateful for this scholarship opportunity and the financial burden it has improved, for the sake of my learning experience. I'm so excited for the coming school year and what will come now that the world is getting back to normal slowly over the summer, and this scholarship is just another positive note that will help me push through the difficulties of the past school semester. I am enrolled in the Vet Tech program here at NSCC and have been working my hardest to succeed in the program and soon become a certified veterinary technician. This scholarship makes it that much more attainable of a goal for me thanks to you. Scholarships are sometimes the make-or-break decider whether someone can afford a college education comfortably or at all and that is no small thing it really does change lives and helps them for the better so I thank you again and want to assure you that your contributions to my education are very appreciated. I hope you have a wonderful summer and your good deed comes back to you someday.

Dear scholarship funder, I am writing to express my gratitude for receiving this scholarship you funded that will apply to my fall and spring semester. I am currently majoring in Liberal Arts major here at NSCC as I believe it will allow me to develop my academic skills, which will then help me when I delve into a more specific major at a 4-year university that will fulfill the requirements for my future career. With the scholarship you funded, I will have the opportunity to reach my academic goals fully and will give me the peace of mind that I can affordably achieve these goals. I am grateful for the opportunity to receive this scholarship, and I thank you for taking the time to donate to the scholarship in the first place. Thank you very much. With Appreciation, Harrison

My name is Patricia; I am almost at the finish line of being the first college graduate in my family. It has been a long journey here at NSCC being just a part-time student, but worth it. I worked hard for the goals that I set for myself. I aim to get my associate’s in accounting to work in that field, in payroll or accounts receivable. I feel this scholarship will help me get my associate's degree. My favorite course that I have taken here at NCSS is business law; in that class, I found it fascinating. Learning about law just had me enjoying the class. I am very detail-oriented and enjoy numbers and organization. I am very thankful for this scholarship; thank you so much.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your help and support. Your generous scholarship has made a tremendous difference in my life. I come from a family of seven children where money has always been tight and has been one of my biggest worries. With your support, I will be able to focus more fully on my studies without the added stress of working as much.
Your kindness and generosity have touched me deeply. I am so grateful for this opportunity and will never forget your kindness. Thank you again for everything you have done for me.
Warm regards,
Allison McDonald

Dear Sarah MacIsaac’s family and friends,
I would like to thank you for awarding me the Sweet Sadie Memorial scholarship. I’m majoring in political science. A long-term goal I have is to run for a political position and I want to add more trade schools and other schools for anybody that has a disability. Having a learning disability I have faced many challenges but I had the help. If I didn’t have the help I would have continued struggling. Unfortunately, there are too many people who aren’t as fortunate enough as me. Getting this scholarship is an honor and this will help me get my associate's degree someday!
Sincerely,
Jeremie Mackenzie
